This month sucked. Traffic increase a bit, but I think its skewed since http://worm.bluesfear.com was Dugg again (used about 500 GB of bandwidth, ouch). So a decent amount of traffic overflowed to Bluesfear which gave it a 12,000 unique increase from last month. Not taking that into account, overall traffic was actually down 4,000 uniques. Earnings are also down a whooping 9.6%. Not good. It can be the time of year, its only a month after the big holiday season, so it could be that advertisers were pulling back a little. Hopefully this month things will pick up.
On the upside my first month as an Amazon affiliate I made almost $35. Not too bad considering the tiny amount of traffic my amazon affiliate site receives. This is what I’m going to be working on most of this month cause I want to break into 3 figures this month, then 4 figures within a month or 2 after that.
Also its St Patrick Day in Hoboken, NJ this Saturday. I know its 2 weeks before the real St Patrick’s day, but Hoboken does it early so it doesn’t have to compete with the NYC parade. To give you a picture of what its like, at around 9:00 am every bar, which is close to 100 within 1/2 square mile, has lines outside the door of people looking to get plastered. I’ve done it 2 years in a row now, I don’t go to the bars during the day cause they charge ridiculas covers, so I stick to house parties. At around 4 everyone crashes then at around 8-9 we all go out again to the bars and get drunk again. Good times.

Mike, about how much do you spend on server/hosting costs? Do you run everything on one server?
March 14th, 2007 at 3:17 pm
I have a dedicated server which cost me about $99/month, plus I have about 20 IPs so thats cost me about an extra $10-15/month. I have all my sites on it and use www.powervps.com

What are the extra IPs for?
March 18th, 2007 at 2:34 pm
For my sites. Since I link a lot of my sites to each other, having a different IP for each site helps when Google crawls the links and sees there on different IPs.

That’s what I thought, but I wasn’t sure. How do you make sure you get an IP on a different c-class? Does this really help SEO much?

Since I have a dedicated server I just ask my hosting provide to give me more IPs when I need them. Not sure if it really works, I’ve never really tested, but it can’t hurt and doesn’t cost much so I do it.
