February 2007

One year anniversary!26 Feb 2007 11:43 pm

Well its been one year today, the 26th, since I started this blog. I never really advertised this blog besides putting it in my sig on a few sites and a couple of link exchanges so having 100 uniques/day is pretty nice. But this blog was never about traffic, I just wanted to setup sort of a journal for myself where I can look back and see what I did. Anyway, heres to another year.

Another Amazon Update25 Feb 2007 07:00 pm

Ok, so it looks like updating my Nintendowiigames.com site worked because since I made the change to the homepage I’ve made 6 sales. Thats about 1.2 sales/day since the switch, not bad for a site that only gets about 50 uniques/day.

I’ve now made 20 sales over all for my first month in Amazon’s affiliate program and theres still a few days left so I should be around 25 by the end of the month. Not that I’m know my NWG site works, I’ve spend some time today submitting to free directories. I submitted to about 300 :) This week I’m going to be purchasing some ad space on other Wii sites to get some targeted traffic and hopefully within a few weeks the site will show up in the SERPs, hopefully page 1 :) Then I should be making some real money.

Amazon Affiliate Update20 Feb 2007 11:08 pm

Well I’m having mild success with Amazon’s affiliate program. So far I have 2 sites that I’ve setup. One site, wiicheats.com, just has 4 items and takes you straight to Amazon when clicking on them. The other, nintendowiigames.com, has a complete shopping cart system by associate-o-matic.com.

Now Wiicheats has a lot more traffic than the other site, so you can’t really do a side by side comparison. Wiicheats gets around 600-900 uniques/day while nintendowiigames gets around 50. With that said, I’ve made 9 sales so far for a total of a whooping $16 and all through WiiCheats. The weird thing with NWG is that people are placing items in there shopping cart and going to Amazon, but then don’t finish their purchase, so I’m not receiving any commission.

Heres what I think is happening. At WC, people click the image and go to Amazon where they can add the item to the shopping cart or browse for other thing. Regardless of what they purchase I receive a commission. But at NWG, the person places the item in their shopping cart at the site, then straight to checkout at Amazon. So they might change their minds, or go shopping for other things at Amazon where I don’t receive credit.

So what I did today was at NWG, I setup a new homepage, where I selected individual items to show similar to WC. This way they go straight to Amazon and hopefully buy stuff or they can click on a link on my site and shop there. Anyway with only 50 visitors/day its hard to tell.

Back from the Caribbean18 Feb 2007 11:43 am

Well as you can tell I haven’t posted in a while and thats because I went on a 8 day cruise to the Caribbean.  It was my first cruise so there were a lot of expectation, but everything turned out fantastic.  We set sail on the Norwegian cruise line last Sat and I just got back in a few hrs ago today.  I’m still a little hungover for the night before and tired as hell.  I think I need a vacation from this vacation.

Anyway, theres a billion things I have to do now.  Answer emails, update sites, check to make sure nothing blew up, then theres the laundry, I don’t even want to thing about that yet.  I justed want to post so you know I didn’t die or anything.  More updates soon.

New site layout and Google update03 Feb 2007 05:32 pm

After getting my first affiliate sale at Amazon I went and purchased AOM and replaced the Amazon Astore I had at my site nintendowiigames.com. The site now looks a whole lot more put together so hopefully this will increase sales. Up to date I have sold 4 items for a total of $3.92 profit. Not much right now, but I’m starting to exchange links with other Wii sites and hopefully the site will be appearing in the SERPs shortly, so traffic should be increasing.

One another note, I have an update on this whole Google invite thing. Nothing really special about it. I think it was just a way for Google to increase the amount of 300×250 ads on publisher sites. So far compared to Yahoo I’m making a decent amount less, although it looks like ad prices have been going up slowly over the last few days. So I’m going to stick with Google for another week before I decide whether or not I’m going to switch those ads back to Yahoo.

January’s Earnings & Traffic Summary01 Feb 2007 07:01 pm

Its that time of the month again, except this year I’m going to do things a little different. With the ever growing number of sites I am accumulating, it just takes way to much time to count up all the sites traffic, so starting this month, I will be only counting the sites that get at least 10,000 uniques/month. This will obviously make my traffic stats lower from the month before, but it will save me a lot of time. Here we go.

Earnings
- - - - - - - - - - -21082.gif
Google: $793.13
Yahoo: $710.17
Intelli: $95.43
Tribal Fusion: $284.12
Misc Earning: $1016.00

Total Earning: $2898.85
Advertising Spent: $201.33

Total Profit: $2697.52(2.2% Increase)

Traffic (Growth of Unique Monthly Visitors)
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Total Growth - 2.3% Decrease (4,696 uniques)

This month showed a small increase in profits, mainly because I spent less on advertising and a small decrease in traffic. But like I said before, this month I only counted sites with greater than 10,000 uniques/month. So that eliminated about 1/2 of the sites from the traffic count. If I added all my sites, traffic would have probably increased around 8-10%.

Amazon Affiliate Site

Well I finally made my first sale. Sold a video game for $9.95 and earned a massive $0.40 from the purchase. WooHOO! No but seriously, thats a big thing. Right after that I went ahead and purchased http://www.associate-o-matic.com and will be setting up a better Amazon store, probably right after I finish this post. Why, because getting the first sale is huge. It feels the same way when I made $.25 my first day with Google. Now that I know it works and will be spending some time and really trying to get this to work.

New Site

Yes, another new site is in the works. This site was completely purchased. The script cost about $250, the design cost about $700 and installation was $50. Its going to take another week or 2 to finish then I will post about it here. I’m pretty excited about this site.

Thats about it.
